Clearly the magazine is well known and excellent. The reason for a one star rating is not due to the quality of the magazine but more to the process of ordering it via Amazon. I ordered it as a Christmas gift but all the recipient got was a box with a registration card to fill out and return to the publisher (including needing to fill out all of their details again even though they’ve already been provided). The publisher then promises to confirm within 14 days and it’s a further 6-8 weeks before they will receive the first magazine – not 6-8 weeks from when the order is placed on Amazon. So a lot of work for the recipient of a gift and a long time to wait for a Christmas present.

I’ve ordered five periodical gifts in the last year and all recipients have received their first copy within the month – this was the first one I’d ordered through Amazon and I won’t be doing it again. Go direct to the BBC magazine link provided as an ‘external link’ and you’ll get it for the same price, faster and more easily.

Other food magazines have arrived, ‘Olive’, ‘delicious’, and now even Jamie Oliver’s ‘jamie’, but in my opinion there is nothing like BBC Good Food for a huge variety of quick, healthy, fun, challenging and exciting recipes in every issue. You might not always learn something new, it’s not always cutting edge, but what you will ALWAYS get without fail is a good recipe to try for any occassion: TONIGHT, or AT-THE-WEEKEND-WHEN-AUNTY-MAVIS-IS-POPPING-ROUND or even, THAT-CUTE-GUY-FROM-WORK-WHO-IS-A-VEGGIE-IS-COMING-OVER-FOR-A-CANDLELIGHT-SUPPER-WHAT-ON-EARTH-WILL-I-COOK. invariably, my response to such dilemmas is along the lines of ‘and me my apron and a glass of pernod, clear a space for me on the sofa, i am consulting BBC GOOD FOOD and WILL NOT be disturbed’… and usually i am not disappointed. my gran likes this magazine too.

I am a great fan of The Good Food Mazagine so when I saw the subscription available on Amazon I was delighted.

I went through the whole process of ordering and paying only realise when it arrived that the monthly mazagine could not be delivered in Ireland.

Although Amazon have been very good about a refund I still had to go to all the bother of posting it back.

I think it should be more clear who can and can’t purchase subscriptions.
